DRESS CODE

Why are they Important?

Dress codes are important because they show respect for the artform of dance. When students come dressed appropriately, their overall performance in class improves. We consider it dressing for success - when you look and feel the part, you eventually become it!

Hip Hop:

  • Students may wear sweatpants, shorts, leggings, tank-tops and t-shirts. Bodysuits, sports bras and tights are okay as an underneath layer.

  • Sneakers are required. No socks, jazz shoes, shoes with spikes or bare feet please.

  • Hair should be secure, however looser styles are allowed.

Modern:

  • Students must wear a leotard or two-piece tights. Hoodies/Jackets, shorts, leggings, sports bra, tank top, or t-shirt are for over or under wear on arrival or departure from class. No baggy or loose-fitting clothing.

  • Footsocks and/or Jazz shoes where required.

  • Hair should be neatly secured.

  • Modern attire available from our Shop!

Tap:

  • Students may wear tights, shorts, leggings, tank tops, or t-shirts.

  • Leotards will be required for examination sessions.

  • Lace up tap shoes. Chat to us about our RENTAL OPTIONS!

  • Hair should be neatly secured.

  • Second-Hand, high quality, Tap shoes available for purchase from our Shop!

Ballet:

  • Female students are required to wear pink Ballet tights, pink leotard, pink skirt, and pink leather/canvas Ballet shoes.

  • Hair should be neatly secured into a classical bun.

  • Male students are required to wear black shorts or tights and a white T-shirt. Full-sole leather Ballet shoes in black are acceptable. Hair should also be neat and kept off the face.

  • Ballet attire available from our Shop!

ACRO:

  • Students must wear a leotard or two-piece tights. Hoodies/Jackets, shorts, leggings, sports bra, tank top, or t-shirt are for over or under wear on arrival or departure from class.

  • No baggy or loose-fitting clothing. It is crucial in Acro for safety and spotting to ensure your teacher can see the lines of your body.

  • Bare feet are typically required for Acro to ensure good grip.

  • Hair should be neatly secured, preferably in a bun or ponytail — to prevent it from getting in the way during tumbling or floor work.
